Rhythm Malfouf or Laf
Hello everyone! Welcome back to the Arabic rhythms tutorial. Today we are going to learn the rhythm Malfouf or Laf. You will usually find this rhythm under the name Malfouf, but keep in mind that you might hear the name Laf as well, especially for Arabic folklore.
It is a very popular rhythm, commonly used in Opening songs. You usually find it in the beginning and ending of the Opening songs.
The word Malfouf in Arabic means revolving around itself and once you hear the rhythm you will understand why it is called this way.
This is a 2/4 rhythm, meaning you can count it in two. You will hear it as:
DUM - TAC - TAC
